Our Story
Homely Joy was born from a simple observation: homes had become cluttered with things that didn't bring happiness. In 2019, our founder Sarah Chen left her corporate design job to create something differentāobjects that would be loved, not just owned.
Starting in a small Brooklyn workshop, we began experimenting with natural materials and timeless forms. We talked to hundreds of people about their homes, their routines, their frustrations. We learned that people craved simplicity, quality, and meaning in their everyday objects.
Today, Homely Joy works with a carefully selected network of artisans across the globeāfrom ceramicists in Japan to woodworkers in Portland. Each partnership is built on mutual respect, fair compensation, and shared values of craftsmanship.
We believe that the objects we surround ourselves with shape how we feel. A well-designed lamp doesn't just illuminateāit creates ambiance. A thoughtful bowl doesn't just hold fruitāit becomes a centerpiece that draws family together.
This is more than furniture and decor. It's about creating spaces where life happensāwhere you feel grounded, inspired, and truly at home.
